DIY: How To Make Surround Sound System
Building complex sound systems is not always justified. Often, this is hampered by the little experience of a novice DIY-builders. |
On the other hand, watching a video on a large screen, or listening to music in the background, does not always require stereo sound. In such cases, it is sufficient to have one simple surround sound system. |
It is worth noting that in single-channel speaker systems, the right and left stereo channels are summed into one channel, and therefore, there is no loss of audio information.
See how you can make a sound system like this in just two weekend nights. The very idea of creating just such a speaker system can be gleaned from the video, but the components that make up this system can be others. |
Necessary electronic components and explanations:
Three-channel audio power amplifier
The power amplifier should be chosen on a modern element base, namely, a class D amplifier.
The output cascade of such an amplifier operate in a key mode, are made, as a rule, in the form of a single microcircuit, and require almost no cooling. High output power is provided by the use of a bridge amplification circuit. Thus, in fact, if we are talking about a three-channel playback system, instead of three amplifiers, we get six, two for each channel.
Below are three amplifiers of the same type, which, among other things, have a convenient design of signal level controls, which will undoubtedly simplify the installation of the entire structure. Any of the three amplifiers of the same type is capable of developing 30 watts for the right and left channels and 60 watts for the low-frequency channel, totaling 30 watts + 30 watts + 60 watts. Choose any suitable amplifier for the price.

Decoder module
The only requirement for it is power supply from a common 12 volt power source.
There are six different modules below, choose the module you like.

Subwoofer
The speaker of the common low-frequency channel must match the only requirement - power. Any of the three speakers has a respectable power, choose any.

Mid-range speakers
Let me remind you that this design uses two mid-range speakers, one for the left and right channels. Below such speakers are presented, however, the speakers have practically no power reserve, and in order for such a margin to be, the speakers should be purchased with a voice coil resistance of 8 ohms.

Power Supply
If we want to have a clear and not distorted sound at maximum volume, power supplies should be chosen with at least double power reserve. At least 100-150 watts and 6-8 amperes and an operating voltage of 12 volts.
In addition, the power supply can be internal or external. It all depends on what and how the DIY-builder conceived.
